Week 1 - Mission Accomplished

What a great week! Children were smiling and happy to start the 2018-2019 school year. I met some very intelligent and inquisitive students that shared all kinds of information with me. Classes were engaged in Social Emotional Learning, French, Spanish, literacy, getting to know you conversations and setting expectations throughout the first three days. Continue to review our essential agreements for the different settings in the building, set and maintain high expectations for all students.

I really have enjoyed my return to elementary. I have been visiting the cafeteria this week, meeting new students and getting to know them. A sweet little kindergarten student that I was conversing with about summer vacation, points at my stomach and says, "My daddy has a tummy like that." This exemplifies the nature of the elementary student; truthful and honest. Let's keep up the good work, encourage the students' curiosity and make this a dynamic year of growth.

I would like to give a special shout out to our arrival and dismissal crew. Everything is flowing seamlessly. We have a few minor improvements that we will make this week but arrival and dismissal is operating like a well-oiled machine. Thank you. It would not happen without you.

Thank you front office staff, cafeteria staff, custodial staff, teachers and paraprofessionals for ensuring that days 1-3 were successful and that children had an excellent learning environment.

Please make sure you are sending students to the cafeteria with their lunch numbers. Kindergarten has been doing an excellent job with it but we need all grades to continue with this practice. It helps speed up the lunch line and affords our students more time to eat and fellowship with their peers.
